The lift network at Erciyes: 19 lines, 26,750 people per hour

The ski area runs from 2,088 m to 3,346 m, giving 1,258 m of vertical. Two lines carry most of it.

Divan climbs from 2,268 m to 2,931 m in a single 2,736 m stretch — the longest line at the resort. Ottoman then takes over from 2,922 m and reaches 3,346 m.

Chained together, those two cover almost the entire vertical of the mountain in one sequence. Both belong to the Hisarcık gate, which is why that side is the most efficient base for a skier chasing descent.

Lifos, on the Hacılar side, is the longest line on the mountain at 2,495 m and starts from the lowest point of the ski area. Tekir Gondola runs 1,602 m from 2,209 m to 2,466 m.

Both matter for two reasons beyond length. First, they are the only lines open to foot passengers — visitors who want to reach the mountain without skiing. Second, enclosed cabins tolerate wind better than open chairlifts, so they are more likely to keep running on a gusty day.

Uphill capacity is the figure that decides whether you spend the day skiing or queueing. At 26,750 people per hour across nineteen installations, queues at Erciyes are usually a peak-weekend problem rather than a daily one.

That number is a total, though, and it is not evenly distributed. Hisarcık runs six named lines for fifteen pistes, so it absorbs load well. Tekir has two lines for four pistes and, as the junction connecting Develi and Hisarcık, it also carries traffic that is only passing through.

In practice the queue you meet is less a function of how busy the resort is overall than of which line you picked at that moment. Moving one sector across usually solves it faster than waiting.

Five of the nineteen installations are magic carpets, and they exist for one purpose: letting a beginner practise without boarding a chairlift. They are spread across the Hacılar, Tekir and Hisarcık gates.

The next step up is the 510 m T-bar at Hisarcık. It runs from 2,270 m to 2,377 m, and it is where most people make the transition from the flat learning area to a real, if gentle, pitch.

Only after that does a chairlift make sense. Riding a chair before you can reliably stop turns a lesson into an ordeal, because the way down is no longer optional.
